Introducing kids to new fruits and encouraging them to try them can sometimes be a challenge. But what if there was a fun way to get them excited about grapes?

Try our easy grape craft for kids. Not only is this activity simple, but it also serves as a great opportunity to introduce children to the nutritious world of grapes.

Let’s explore how a simple grape craft can lead to more fruit eating.

Imagine this: you and your child cozy up with a colorful book all about grapes. You learn about how grapes grow, their different colors, and why they’re so good for you. Next, it’s time to make a craft.

With just an empty water bottle, some purple paint, and paper, you’re on your way to making your very own grape masterpiece. Dip, press, and repeat – soon, your paper has a grape bunch on it.

Once your grape craft is complete, it’s snack time. Serve your child a bowl of grapes for a snack. Grapes should be cut lengthwise and then into fourths to reduce the risk of choking in children under 5 years of age.

Your child may be more willing to try a grape. If not, that’s okay. Don’t force your child to eat grapes. It’s perfectly okay if your child just wants to touch the grapes.

What’s the magic behind this grape craft adventure? Exposure! By engaging in a hands-on activity like crafting, children become more familiar with fruits like grapes. Pairing the craft with a book about grapes reinforces their knowledge and curiosity. And when it’s time to snack, they may be willing to give grapes a try.

How To Make a Grape Craft

Step 1: Paint the Grapes

Begin by dipping the bottle cap into the purple paint. Then, press it down onto the paper to create the shape of a grape.

We used the pattern of 3 grapes, 4 grapes, 3 grapes, 2 grapes, and 1 grape, but feel free to experiment with different configurations. We made purple grapes; you can make either green or purple grapes.

Once you’ve painted your grapes, let the paint dry completely.

Step 2: Draw a Stem

Once your grape bunch has dried, it’s time to add a stem. Using a brown marker, draw a stem onto your bunch of grapes.

Step 3: Make the Grape Leaf

I love that the grape leaf is made with a child’s handprint.

Have your child place their hand on the green paper and trace around it to create a handprint. Once traced, carefully cut out the handprint.

Then, glue the handprint grape leaf to the stem of grapes.
